Director - Commercial Due Diligence - Corporate Finance Strategy in Munich

 

The Corporate Strategy team of our client currently has exciting and challenging opportunities. The group is seeking to recruit a Director with a focus on the Commercial due diligence who will be able to build up a new Team in Munich.

The new team will have strong transaction and commercial experience, and work on a number of diverse and demanding projects for blue chip payments businesses, financial sponsors and emerging FinTechs.

The Corporate Strategy team advises financial services organisations and private equity clients on strategic and commercial issues affecting their key investment decisions. Our client is market leading in advising clients in the banking and payments sector and is looking to further grow its team of senior experts. Areas of the work include:

  • Commercial due diligence
  • Strategy assessment
  • Market entry strategy and opportunity sizing
  • Product and business unit strategy development
  • Divestment options analysis

You'll work with a high-performing, integrated team which focuses on a variety of global and local corporate clients and private equity clients, but with a primary focus on serving banks, payment institutions, private equity investors etc. You'll have a diverse range of stretching experiences which will give you continuous learning and development opportunities as well as a great sense of achievement.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Build up a new team in Munich
  • Recruiting and training of the new staff
  • Serve as a key advisor to financial services and private equity clients, focusing on the delivery of commercial and strategic due diligence and growth strategy services
  • Serve as the day-to-day leader on the project team, managing individual teams of managers and consultants on each engagement and developing and delivering key analytical outputs
  • Work closely with different partners to help build relationships with clients
  • Provide oversight of highly skilled work teams throughout the project lifecycle and serve as the primary team interface with various levels of executives and team members
  • Work across banking sector / financial services, insurances and payments industry

Requirements:

  • You are likely to have more than 8 years of prior experience in banking sector / financial services, either from strategy consulting or M&A or from an in-house strategy / corporate development / M&A function at a leading player
  • Expert knowledge of different business models in banking sector / financial services
  • Being a true business advisor to the client and establish yourself as a key client contact
  • Understanding key business drivers, co-developing the approach with the client, agreeing value measurements with the client, providing value to the client through insights, factual conclusions and advice
  • Have extensive experience in project and team management and work closely with all members as well as forming strong internal links within transaction support and other departments to form, co-manage and participate in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ability to collect and utilise relevant business and industry information and to analyse this information effectively by applying strategic and commercial analysis techniques
  • Analytical work experience preferably gained in a strategy consulting firm or a strategy department of a leading corporate
  • Ability to plan, deliver, structure, write and present work against tight deadlines
  • Share your technical and other knowledge with your team and the department
  • Ability to lead and motivate team members
  • Take responsibility for own learning and development, provide coaching to others, and participate in upward feedback

 You will also:

  • Have a strong track record in executing and managing research and analysis of companies and markets, preferably with commercial due diligence experience
  • Have strong commercial experience and/or relevant industry or transaction experience
  • Be an excellent communicator, both oral and written
  • Have business development experience
  • Be an effective time manager, able to keep calm when under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Be a team player with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels with clients
  • Bachelors required; MBA and/or other qualifications a plus
  • Knowledge of European languages would be a plus
